Clunky interface for grocery shopping but Amazon has some OK deals if you have time to wade through the clearance inventory.

I loaded up on amaranth, oats, dry beans and some canned soup (NOT the 'Wolfgang Puck' crap)
Olive oil 2-pack was sold out. I skipped the Starkist tuna bulk pack.

I had 5 pounds of sundried tomatos in my cart that was only going to cost 10 bucks and someone cleared out the inventory before I could purchase :rant:

yes, i ignored the clearance section entirely. Once i got to the point of entering the code, amazon let me know that most of my basket did not qualify.

What are the expiration dates of the products you received? I had heard that Amazon sells a lot of stuff that is close to expiring. I have never bought food from them before, so I am in the dark.

I had never ordered food from them before either. My order was mostly dry grains or beans with the exception of the canned soup I bought. Looking at the bottom of the can it says '19DEC08FF'. I figure it's good for a year past that. There are some deals to be had on Amazon if you dig through the processed junk. Today they had canned mushrooms from Europe on clearance (up to 4.25 lb. cans!) but that's not something I'm willing to take a chance on.

The oats I bought are marked 'Sell by MAR 2010'. Wish I'd bought more, they're out now.

Thanks for the info! I have been looking to stock up big on food preps recently, and this will do. Not much selection, especially in the way of canned vegetables, but those 3 packs of 66.5oz cans of tuna look good. I may get some of those roland mushrooms and peppers too, but a am weary of the expiration dates.

I've given up on online deals. I find that if you hit the local stores you get much better deals and no shipping BS.

Today I nabbed Campbells select - no msg - good stuff - regularly $3 a can - got them at $1 a can - loaded up - similar deals on some other canned goods.

This is on now at Albertsons - West Coast at least.

oh well. I went to he store any way, did some math and found that besides the tuna, I can get better deals buying 50 cent cans of vegetables/fruits from the store. I love me some stewed tomatoes. A TSHTF delicacy.

I got a bunch of jerky, a variety of canned and bagged nuts and doggie treats.
None of the stuff had a sell by date less than 1 year from now.
